The European energy transition relies heavily on the rapid expansion of wind and solar generation. While essential for decarbonisation, these variable renewable sources introduce challenges to grid stability and security of supply. Flexibility and storage are becoming indispensable, and hydropower is uniquely positioned to deliver both.

To explore these issues, ETIP HYDROPOWER Working Group 1 has developed a White Paper offering expert insights and recommendations for policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders.
